TREATMENT OPTIONS

Treatment Options Available at Northeast Chiropractic

Chiropractic Adjustment, also called Chiropractic manipulation, the adjustment is a tremendously effective tool in addressing restricted joints. Improper movement of joints will interfere with the movement chains of the body and can lead to pain or tissue damage. Chiropractic adjustments safely and effectively restore motion to restricted joints and normalize the movement of the body as a whole. Our Doctors utilize a multitude of adjusting techniques including, but not limited to: Diversified, Gonstead, and Motion Palpation techniques.
Activator Method is a low-force alternative to a Chiropractic Manipulation. The Doctor uses a tool, instead of their hands, to deliver the manipulation. This allows for total patient comfort for those worried about a manual adjustment.More information about Activator Methods
Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM®) is a soft tissue mobilization therapy aimed at breaking down scar tissue that forms in a muscle. This allows for greater return in functionality and decreased pain in the targeted area.More Information about SASTM®
Kinesio-Taping functions to support muscles, stabilize joints, remove swelling/inflammation while activating the body’s natural pain relievers; thus allowing the body to heal itself quicker than before. For more information, Kinesio-Taping and RockTape
Research continues to show that patients with chronic pain function better and improve faster with increased activity. The purpose of the rehabilitative exercises and programs performed in the office are to restore proper range of motion and function in joints and muscles that are injured or inhibited. Once a patient is out of pain, it becomes very important to strengthen weak areas and fix any imbalances that either led to the problem, or could cause the symptoms and condition to return.
Laser therapy also called “cold laser” or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a technology, which has been proven to be remarkably safe, painless and effective in treating both acute injuries and chronic pain of various kinds. It has been shown to be an extremely useful addition to our clinic. The treatment involves the application of red and near infra-red light over injuries. Laser and LED beams of light are used to stimulate the cells in the body that repair tissue, reduce inflammation and reduce pain. It is a highly effective treatment for acute soft tissue injuries, chronic pain syndromes and slow healing wounds.More Information about Microlight LLLT
Interferential therapy is one of the various types of physical therapy. It uses an electrical current for treating muscle spasms and strains. The current produces a massaging effect over the effected area at periodic intervals, and this stimulates the secretion of endorphins, the body’s natural pain relievers, thus relaxing the strained muscles and promoting soft-tissue healing.
Intersegmental Traction (IST) is a way of inducing passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints and increasing mobility. Since discs have a poor blood supply, they get nutrients from the circulation of fluids surrounding spinal joints. Fixations prevent this natural circulation and can cause disc thinning and degeneration. IST helps restore necessary elasticity and motion to the spine.
Massage therapy is a hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues and joints of the body. The soft tissues include muscle, skin, tendons and associated fascia, ligaments and joint capsules. Massage has many diverse physiological effects, which are primarily due to the therapist’s hands moving over the body. The different movements can physically stretch muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia, encourage the circulation through the tissue, inhibit muscular spasms and be either sedating or stimulating to the nervous system. Our Massage Therapists utilize multiple techniques including, but not limited to: Deep Tissue, Pain Neutralization Technique, Rossiter, Russian Sports, Swedish and Trigger Point Release Therapies.
Acupuncture needling can precisely dissolve the painful spots in soft tissues resulting in muscle and tendon relaxation and restore the blood flow with sufficient oxygen and nutrition. Acupuncture needling and the lesions left after needles have been removed also stimulate the spinal cord and the brain to release self-made pain killers, the endorphins. Our endorphins not only reduce pain, they also remove emotional stress. The central nervous system, stimulated by needling, releases biochemicals to normalizeimmune reactions and endocrine activities and inhibits pain patterns and dysfunction to essentially “reset” our neurology and restore normal function. All this leads to restoration of self-healing and results in analgesia without side-effects. Some acupoints appear as a result of a vicious circle of metabolic energy crises. Such acupoints maintain a higher temperature than surrounding tissues because of sustained muscle contraction. Acupuncture needling is able to relax the muscle which breaks the vicious circle of energy crisis and restores normal blood circulation.
